Dosa-Inspired Lentil Wraps

Dosa-Inspired Lentil Wraps

A dosa is a thin batter-based dish that originates from South India. It’s made from a fermented batter that consists of lentils and rice and it’s so good! This dosa recipe is inspired by the traditional dosa and can be used for anything you’d normally use wraps for!

Why you’ll love this dosa recipe:

  • Easy: This recipe does take some time as you need to soak the lentils, but after that, it’s super easy
  • Healthy: These are a healthier alternative to regular wraps and full of protein

Ingredient Notes:

Red Lentils: Red lentils are rich and earthy in taste and they cook down really easily. They will absorb the delicious flavors that you cook them with and are a good source of iron, and fibre. I love to use Silo’s red lentils.

Chickpea Salad: I stuffed these lentil wraps with chickpea salad which is another boost of protein and nutrients, however, you can use these wraps for anything!

How to make dosa:

  1. Rinse the lentils and add to a large jar along with the water.
  2. Seal, and set aside for 12 – 18 hours.
  3. Prepare the Mashed Chickpea Salad and set aside in the fridge until ready to use.
  4. Add the lentils with the water to a blender along with the salt, garlic powder, black pepper, dill, and mint.
  5. Blend until smooth.
  6. Place a large pan onto the stove over medium-high heat.
  7. Once heated, lightly coat or spray the pan with oil and add approximately 1/3 cup of the lentil batter.
  8. Right after pouring, use a spoon to spread out the batter into an 8in circle.
  9. Allow the wrap to cook for 2 – 3 minutes on that side and flip.
  10. Cook for another 2 – 3 minutes.
  11. Continue cooking and flipping until you reach your desired doneness. It should be golden brown on each side.
  12. Remove from heat and set onto a plate to cool
  13. Repeat these steps until you have used all of the batter.
  14. To assemble you’re the wraps, add your desired amount of fresh lettuce and Mashed Chickpea Salad.
